When it comes to finding a great Pizzeria in Arizona, there is definetly no shortage in choices.  Many pizza parlors that are located in Phoenix metro are owned by proprietors who came over from the East coast, mainly New York.  It is no secret to anyone that the best Pizza in the country usually stems from New York.  Many of these owners that came out west so the opportunity to take over this market and bring their own slice to Valley of the Sun.  There are many chain restaurants that have come from New York and have been able to expand at a very rapid rate.  These chain restaurants that are known for their high quality New York style pizza include Slices, NYPD Pizza, Streets of New York, Oregano’s and Native New Yorker.  These establishments have become mainstays in the Valley due to the very popular New York style pizza.  When you add to the fact that many of these restaurants are frequented by New Yorkers who have moved to the valley, the expansion of these restaurants to cover more area was an easy decision for these owners.  Also, many in Chicago saw the success of these pizza parlors in Arizona and also decided to move to the valley to introduce their own style of Pizza, the deep dish style.  For many in Chicago, the move came very easy as Arizona has been home to their baseball teams for spring training for many years.  These allowed these proprietors the opportunity to expand to a new market that they were very familiar with.  In addition to the chain pizza restaurants that are native to Arizona, there are also a few famous Pizza joints that locals and visitors alike make sure that they visit as often as they can. 

Arguably the most famous Pizza parlor in all of Phoenix is Pizzeria Bianco.  Pizzeria Bianco is located at 623 E Adams St in Phoenix.  It has been a mainstay in the Phoenix metro area and many consider it to be by far the best pizza in the entire Valley.  The restaurant has been featured on the Food Network twice and for good reason.  The restaurant was opened by Chris Bianco.  He is considered by many to be one of the best pizza makers in the world.  Pizza master Chris Bianco uses the best ingredients that are in fact grown on site; you can actually tour his garden where he grows his fresh parsley and basil for his exceptional wood-fired pies that have been called the best in the country. Bianco even makes his own mozzarella every morning.

Bring the whole family to this original pizza joint while listening to the sounds of Big-Band music. Oregano’s unique menu includes award-winning thin crust, stuffed and pan pizzas and The Original Pizza Cookie dessert, the pizzookie, a small pizza-size, gooey cookie served with vanilla ice cream.  Oregano’s remains one of the hottest spots in town with constant crowds packing in around small tables for all different types of Pizzas that will be great for all different types of clientele.  With so many locations it is hard not find an Oregano’s in your neighborhood.

Nello’s Pizzeria is authentic Chicago pizza with numerous locations but their first location is located in Tempe at 1806 E. Southern in Tempe.  As soon as you walk into Nello’s you feel like you just walked into a restaurant in Chicago.  With pictures of numerous famous sports figures in Chicago and once you taste the pizza you know that it Chicago-style as it boasts a medium crust that melts in your mouth. Ingredients are fresh and the tomato sauce is no exception and it tastes fantastic.  The same is true for the ingredients on the pizza, for instance you get real spinach leaves, fresh tomatoes, sliced mushrooms and onions so fresh that it can make you cry. Nello’s also makes a wonderful garden salad with tomato basil house dressing. It’s covered with several kinds of cheese, ham, olives and other fresh toppings.

One of the more famous chain restaurants located in Phoenix is NYPD pizza.  They have numerous valley locations and many insist that it is the best New York style pizza in the state hands down.  The New York-style pizzas and calzones are certainly amazing and it is obvious that the restaurants are modeled after their owners, who are two brothers from Long Island and they even make sure that all their water is imported from New York for their particular pizza dough. These Pizzas are as close as you can get to New York without having to get on a plane.  The décor inside also feels as if you in New York with pictures of the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, and Statue of Liberty adorning the walls.
